Guitar Lesson Blues Rock Funk Jazz minor Scale Dorian Mode
Posted in blues rock | November 8th, 2009
A dorian second mode of G major scale. used in funk and santana and jazz.
It’s all the same notes as the G major scale but with the second degree as the tonal center or root.
typical dorian type progression has its I chord as a minor chord and it’s IV as a dominant 7 chord (such as Amin7 to D7 or D9) It’s also all the same notes a D mixolydian, so this new shape could be a new position of the mixolydian from my other video. obviously there’s a lot of theory behind it, so when all else fails, just plug it in and try it out.
